The Baw Baw Shire Council conducted the Business Expansion Retention Program (BEAR) within the Drouin Business Community during 2009. The Process allowed local businesses to express their thoughts on how:
- Business in Drouin could be improved to build a better local economy; and
- The Local community could understand the importance of expansion and retention of local business.
The outcomes were documented and tabled in December 2009 and indicated that 86% of the local businesses who responded believed the formation of a business group in Drouin could assist the future development of businesses in the area.
The Baw Baw Shire Council formed a Task force Group of eight business owners and community members to action this outcome. SED Consulting Gippsland was then commissioned to assist in the creation of a Strategic Business Plan for the establishment of the Drouin Business Group (DBG).
The Task force Group has developed the vision and objectives for the DBG and its implementation plans.
